We just released Memoji, the logical next step after Animoji.
This project represented a full new set of challenges.
One of them was to keep the art inline with the emoji universe and the well known emojis "humans" already present. This was far from straight forward as the existing characters did not always have features that translated well to 3D, making it very challenging to adapt.
I personally think the results are stunning.
An important one and a first in the industry, some might have noticed, others not as it feels very natural, but we never ever ask you your gender, this is by no means a small feat.
An other one is that no asset choice is exclusive and they all need to work with every available combination, this represent a massive amount of condition driven corrective shapes, and the complexity only increases as we add assets.
Combining this with optimizing all the assets and deformations to fit on an extremely small device foot print is an incredible achievement.
It was both challenging and rewarding to work on this project. It is rare that you get the chance to work on projects that will reach such a big audience.
